Besan ki Tikki

Ingredients for Tikki
  • Besan (gram flour)- 200grms
  • Onion finally chopped - 1 medium size
  • Green Chilies finally chopped - 1tsp
  • Fresh Green Dhania(coriander leaves) finally chopped - 2tsps
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Anar Dana (whole) - 1tsp
  • Jeera(cumin seeds)-1tsp
  • Khaskas - 1tsp(Optional)
  • Cooking oil - 4tbsps
  • Water for kneeing - 1/2cup
  • Enough oil for deep frying the tikkies
Method
Put all ingredients except water in a big bowl and mix them properly. Add water slowly time by time and make dough of quite stiff consistency, you will find while kneeing your hands will be oily. Make small tikkies of about 1inch diameter. Heat oil in a broad vessel like Karahi and deep fry tikkies till golden brown. When it is done keep all tikkies a side and prepare the gravy.

Gravy of Tikkies
Ingredients
  • Onion - 2 medium size
  • Tomato- 2 medium size (finally chopped/grinded)
  • Garlic - 6-8 flacks
  • Ginger - one inch
  • Green Chili - 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Haldi 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Dhania Powder 1 tbsp
  • Cooking oil - 2 tbsps
Method
Grind all ingredients except cooking oil and tomato, to make the paste. Heat the oil add the paste. Stir the paste till it is light .brown. Add tomato and stir for a minute or till it releases oil. Add water and boil for five minutes. Check the consistency of the gravy if it is thick add more water when it starts boiling add the tikkies already kept ready, cook for five minutes at sim gas. Remove from the gas and garnish with Fresh Green Dhania. Serve hot with chapattis.
