Butter Chicken


Ingredients
  • Chicken - 500grms
  • Onion(Chopped in big pieces) - 300 grms
  • Red Tomato(chopped) - 300grms
  • Garlic - 8flacks or 1tbsp of garlic paste
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece or 1tbsp of ginger paste.
  • Green Chili - 2
  • Acitic/Citric Acid - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Chicken Masala(MDH) 2tsps
  • Red Chili Powder - 1/3 tsp.
  • Cloves(Laung) - 4
  • Cardamom(Green Illaichi) - 4
  • Cassia (Tejpatta) - 1
  • Capsicum(Chopped in slices) - 1piece
  • Cooking oil- 4 tbsps.
  • Butter -25grms(Optional)
  • Fresh Cream - 1tbsp (Optional)
Method
Wash the chicken pieces properly and place in big bowl marinade it with salt, Chicken Masala and actic acid for about 1 hour. Deep fry onion. Mix fried onion, tomato, green chili, garlic and ginger paste and grind to a smooth paste. Heat the oil add illaichi, tejpata and cloves stir for few seconds when it crackle and add sliced capsicum stir for few seconds, add onion etc Mixture, red chili powder and salt to the taste for onion mixture only, add marinated chicken stir gently to mix the chicken pieces and onion mixture properly. When it starts boiling cover the vessel with lid and sim the gas flame. Cook it on sim for 10-15 minutes or till chicken smoothens and oil floats on the top. In the meantime stir for 3-4 times gently to avoid breaking of the pieces. if required water can be added to the consistency of gravy required. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chappati or rice
TIPS -
  • In place of tomato, tomato puri can also be used.
  • If required butter can be added in while serving
  • For having rich look garnish with fresh cream.
